Many people, although physically active, struggle with activities that require balance, coordination and endurance. As an avid mountain biker and skier (who just turned 50), I understand the necessity to listen and acknowledge the changing demands of our bodies as we age. If we want to continue to pursue the sports or activities we love, we must place more emphasis on exercise techniques which address injury prevention, and overall fitness and flexibility.
My own successful recovery from a fractured patella helped reinforce my belief in exercise not only as a tool for therapy, but as a means to achieve a more abundant lifestyle. Today I am much stronger, and have a higher level of fitness than before the injury. I hope to use my experience to empower others to achieve a higher level of fitness, or to overcome their obstacles, whether they are due to injury or disability.
